Historically, the town center has always occupied a prominent role in cultural life.  People have lived, worked and thrived in and around town centers for years.  And yet, in the United States, we've strayed from this culturally rich concept.  With the plethora of automobiles and land expansion the result was sprawl.  Evolving out of our instinctive need for a sense of place and community are lifestyle centers.  They encompass a mix of eateries, shops and unique entertainment venues along with unique residential and office space all set in an open-air format.  It is a return to the town center, where people can meet up with friends, families and co-workers.  That is the inspiration for Providence Towne Centre.
